Lavender let it all out. “Look, you get a tattoo and don’t tell me or ask me, you’d signed the contract to do the show in Vegas, you run that place like I have no legal attachment to it at all, you head out and back to Sin City like it’s around the corner, without a moment’s notice, you’re gone from the family way more than we agreed, you have an attitude depending upon which direction the wind is blowing, and you spring a show on me while I’m sitting in front of the TV, knowing some mess is about to pop off that could involve not only us, but our family, not to mention this freak named Frenchie who called out my wife’s name on television. What the hell is going on with you?”

Malcolm looked hard at her then gathered her onto his chest and started to undress her. A few minutes later, when they were both naked he pulled her to the bed, laid on his back and positioned her on top of him. Zenobia felt him hard against her and she opened her legs to him. When he slid inside her wetness it felt like coming home. A moan escaped her lips and Malcolm responded with his own groans of pleasure, all thoughts of holding back were gone. She felt his heart beating hard against her breasts as he pounded her. Zenobia bit his shoulder and tried not to scream. She tasted the salt on his skin, as he held her hips tightly and f***** her with long angry strokes.
“When you're with him you’ll always remember this. He’ll never be a match for this, for what we have.”

Magnolia used her hands to brace herself along the mattress, and bounced up and down on him like she was on a trampoline. Every time she came down, he raised up to meet her, f****** her back.

“Do you love him?” Malcolm asked, his voice ragged. "I’m miserable without you.” He looked away from her. “Are you happy? I suppose you have every right to be.”
“Oh Malcolm, stop the martyr act. You were constantly cheating on me. You couldn’t be faithful if your life depended on it.” What he said next silenced her.
“I haven’t slept with another woman since I left you. I can’t stop thinking about you, about what I’ve thrown away. I want you back. I can’t stand the thought of his hands, of any man’s hands on you.”
Zenobia put her hand on his chest. “But I’m here with you now.”
“But you’ll be gone in the morning back to... David.” He said his name like it was something nasty in his mouth.
“What do you want me to do?”
“I want you to love me again.”
“But I never stopped loving you.”

Tamiko told her sister Milan, “Of course you both do. I know you’ve been hurt. And Lord knows I know hurt. I know how I tripped when I found out Kellen cheated on me with Dakota. And then I was mortified when Jarod messed with our stepmother, Nancy. But for some reason, I believe that you, being married, can find some room to save what you have with Lavender. As corny as that sounds, no one is perfect. He messed up. I was pissed. You were devastated. Lots of couples move on from that. It’s been more than a year. It’s time.”

When Malcolm kissed Zenobia, all thoughts of David had gone right out of her head. All her senses were filled with Malcolm, his scent, his touch, his mouth, his body pressing against hers as his hands explored her body, caressed her curves, and holding her like she were his, like the last two months didn’t happen, like she wasn’t with another man. David Black, that’s his name. Zenobia struggled to remember.
Malcolm sighed and stepped away from Zenobia. “I don’t deserve another chance. I’m not even sure if that’s what I’m asking for. I just miss you, so much, Z, so very much.” At this his voice cracked and Zenobia couldn’t believe this was the same proud, selfish, self-absorbed, self-serving boy she’d said goodbye to in New York. He'd come back a man.

It was a warm night in Las Vegas, and Milan headed to her suite at the Cosmopolitan Hotel on the strip at four-thirty in the morning, exhausted. She’d closed the club, got in her car and drove, sitting behind the wheel in deep thought. Normally, before all that had gone on in her life, Lavender would’ve called to check on her. He didn’t.
