Hope
arrives at Shades. Her driver Paul gets out of the town car, opens her door,
and offers her his hand. Taking it she thanks him and makes her way through the
busy midtown crowd into the building and heads for the elevator. Was it only
last week that Max and I were in bed? She wonders blushes furiously at the
thought. Since she’s been back from the magazine awards conference in Atlanta,
she’s been getting daily calls and texts from Max, but since her talk with Derrick,
Hope has decided not to see him. But she is just too much of a coward to let
Max know that despite the fantastic sex and the great chemistry they have, she
can never see him again. She’s engaged to another man, after all, and she knows
that even though she’s betrayed him, she can’t leave him.
